Blue Newt Awarded Daimler Simulator Replacement Contract
Blue Newt Software announced the award of a multi-year contract with Daimler, GMBH to provide image generators throughout its new flagship driving simulator in Stuttgart, Germany. Blue Newt won a competitive bid process with its advanced rendering technology and comprehensive support and integration services.

Our deferred rendering engine provides amazing realism for both day and night scenes and we are excited to help Daimler break new ground in simulation."
Blue Newt is to deliver its highly parallel deferred lighting and modern rendering engine as part of the multi-year bid. The engine has capability to support as many in-simulation lights as users require, as well as having all modern capabilities of typical rendering engines. These baseline capabilities include bump-mapped, specular-masked geometry, custom material shaders, and a library of standard common materials. These objects will work in a scene which will be assembled in a pluggable pipeline with a complete spectrum of post-processing effects. In addition the Blue Newt technology provides highly-accurate day and night skydomes, weather effects, and a realistic fog model.
Blue Newt will also provide a complete set of modern vehicle models, integrating the best in modern modeling technologies to provide fully-operational lighting for all in-scene vehicles. In addition, Blue Newt will be working to update the visual fidelity of the terrain and road databases used in the simulations. The contract will begin in late 2008 and continue throughout 2009.
